MISSION STATEMENT:
At the San Gabriel Elite, we strive to foster the characteristics of discipline, perseverance, and determination in each of our student-athletes. Our recognition of these key traits is invaluable in our pursuit of excellence. The San Gabriel Elite coaches are relentlessly dedicated in assisting athletes achieve their goals.

We are committed to foster an environment where our athletes have the optimal opportunities for success on and off the court. Our pursuit of excellence challenges and drives our coaches, administration, players, and families to best our best.

GOALS:
Our vision at the San Gabriel Elite is to build the characteristics of discipline, perseverance, and determination. Training our athletes to be successful at the high school and collegiate level are paramount. In addition to preparing our athletes for the next level, we share a common vision: A National Championship. This aspect of excellence will be a by-product of our diligent training and nurturing a competitive, yet positive atmosphere.

At the SG Elite, we understand the importance of instilling confidence and self-determination in each athlete. Our united goal with each family is to nurture leadership skills in every player at the Elite. Working together, we can motivate each athlete to achieve her ELITE status.

Discipline, perseverance, determination, and commitment are characteristics that the San Gabriel Elite Volleyball Club expects of its coaches, administration, players and parents. We are committed in achieving our vision of excellence, and your support is the foundation of success.

SPECIAL NOTE:
The one concession we make to an athlete's commitment to the sport and our program is the athlete's academic performance at her school.  Athletes unable to maintain a satisfactory standard of academic performance, as determined by the athlete and her parents, will be asked to leave our program.

A young person's life is full of many competing interests for her time and energy.  Unfortunately, part of the growing-up process includes having to choose between those interests in order to achieve whatever that individual wants from life.  In many instances, our program forces such a decision for the first time in a young person's life.  It is at this point that many young athletes realize that the commitment we speak of also includes sacrifice.  To participate in our program often means making sacrifices in other areas of their lives (e.g. work, social, other sports, etc.).

TRAVEL:
San Gabriel Elite Volleyball Club parents are responsible for the transportation of their daughters to and from both practices and SCVA tournaments. They need to schedule events around practice and tournament schedules as to avoid conflicts.

•  Travel team expenses are paid for through your membership fees.*

• Airfare, hotel rooms, van transportation, tournament fees, and other misc. fees associated with the tournament are included in your travel fees.

• The only “out of pocket” expense will be for food, allowance, and other personal expenses.

• Each travel team will attend two (2) to three (3) “out of area” tournaments. One (1) pre-season tournament, one (1) Junior National Qualifier, and one (1) post season tournament. For travel teams, the SCVA Qualifier is also included. These tournaments are paid through your travel club fees.**

Please Note: During travel tournaments, SG Elite is responsible for your daughter. Each team member will stay with the team during the duration of the tournaments. If there is any reason for any team member leaving the group with family, there must be a written consent by the parents.

*If your daughter is a member of a non-travel team, which decides to travel in the post season, your non-travel fees do not cover any travel expenses.

**In the event of any unexpected airline fee hikes or any other uncontrollable circumstances, there may be added expenses.

FUNDRAISING:
Our fundraising programs provide opportunity to assist with club fees. However, fundraising requires commitment and help from our member’s families. San Gabriel encourages participation from all girls and their families with support and ideas. Please look forward to our fundraisers!

WORK SCHOLARSHIP:
Please contact Kenji Mukai if you are interested in participating in our work scholarship program for the 2008 season. This program will be based on need and is limited.

COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS:
Any program promising college scholarships should be viewed with a great deal of skepticism and suspicion.  Our program feels that to make such promises would be misleading to both the athlete and the athlete's parents.  There is no magic formula.  To compete at the high levels of collegiate volleyball requires not only the necessary physical attributes, but also large doses of hard work, commitment, and sacrifice.

Our program can provide the opportunity for our athletes to be observed by various college coaches and scouting services. This increases the possibility of our athletes being noticed, and then receiving consideration for the increasing amount of college athletic scholarships now available to women athletes.

We feel our program can greatly aid an athlete maintaining such a commitment and the necessary physical attributes.

Every year, "graduates" from our program are making their presence felt in college volleyball circles.  In return for their hard work, many have received financial assistance towards completing their plans for higher education.

What we will offer our athletes:

ü      SG ELITE will produce for each 10^th, 11^th and 12^th grader a biography to be viewed on our website.

ü      SG ELITE will hold a recruiting meeting to introduce the process.

ü      SG ELITE will contact collegiate coaches to promote each athlete who is willing to play at the next level.

ü      SG ELITE will assist each athlete with the decision making process, and to find the right fit.
